Description:
Fenapen w.s.p. (Phenoxymethylpenicillin) is a specific narrow
spectrum antibiotic with a high safety margin & is acid stable
due to which its absorption from the gastrointestinal tract is
better when compared to other penicillin such as
benzylpenicillin. Fenapen w.s.p. induces less bacterial
resistance and disruption of the microflora which is vital for
chicken health and better FCR.
Indications:
Fenapen w.s.p. is indicated for the prevention and treatment
of necrotic enteritis caused by Clostridium perfringens
particularly & bacterial infections caused by Staphylococcus,
Streptococcus, Haemophilus and Pasteurella susceptible to
Phenoxymethylpenicillin in poultry.
Dosage & Administration:
Poultry: 13.5-20 mg Phenoxymethylpenicillin per kg b.wt. per
day (corresponding with 46-68 mg Fenapen w.s.p. per kg b.wt.
per day) for 5 days or 500gm per 1000 litres of drinking water
for 5 days. Dissolve 250 gm in 1 litre of luke warm water then
mix it into the drinking water after calculation of dose and use
within 12 hours.
Withdrawal Period:
Poultry meat: 2 days, Eggs: 0 day.
